Today, we invite you to get drunk on the scents of autumn in an outing for two at the outskirts of La Roche-sur-Yon.
We left in the early morning from the municipality of La Ferrière, the “Land of Iron”. A site that takes its name from the old iron mines operated from Gallic times until the beginning of the XNUMXth century. Before we sink in the paths of the Bois des Girondins, we ventured on the Plessis-Bergeret site. A verdant natural site around an 8 hectare pond with undeniable charm.
The proximity of the pond, a stream and woods over a large area, give it a majestic character. An invitation to discover the site in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. A morning to the rhythm of water and the sounds of different birds nesting around us. 🐦🐟
At the edge of the Bois des Girondins, pleasant sunken paths guided us through the woods. We were able to find chestnuts, mushrooms. Filling our lungs with an air loaded with woody scents and earth moistened by the morning dew. Some runners and cyclists crossed our path in the middle of old oaks and chestnut trees. 🌰🍄🌳
We stopped for a picnic at the mouth of the Riot du Plessis which flows into the Yon. Walking along the shore we came across Boches Bridge. Remains of a railway line that allowed iron ore to be transported from La Ferrière. Before us unfolded the Moulin Papon dam lake, a colossal reservoir with paths shaded by vegetation. We didn't do the full tour of the banks, however the calm atmosphere already invited us to come back. 😄👌
Our rural circuit through the lower bocage took us to Beaupuy Park, a remarkable natural space! Its XNUMXth century manor, its woods, its ponds, its meadow. Ideal for getting out into nature not far from La Roche-sur-Yon! 😊
The end of our outing is approaching near La Roche-sur-Yon. Paths lined with hedges led us to the wooded area of the Terres Noires. A pleasant corner on the outskirts of the city. Here the practice of sport extends to about fifteen different activities, the racecourse at the top of the bill. 🏇🎾🚴🏽
