Points of interest

1. Trailhead

Departure from the car park of the Saint-Denis church.

Église Saint-Denis

2. St. Denis Church

In the 1500th century, monks from Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm settled in Thorigny and founded a priory there. It was on its ruins that the church was founded in 1520 by one of the lords of “Bois de Belle Femme”. The nave was completed around 1845 thanks to the lord of Thorigné, lord of “Bois Nerbert”. One can observe at the entrance, a stone of the original building. Its tower gives it the silhouette of a fortress. In 1911, an arrow was erected as a bell tower, but it collapsed in XNUMX. We can assume that the Place du Marché now extends over the old cemetery which surrounded the church.

3. The Ball

Note the XNUMXth century entrance door and the coat of arms (private property). A legend says that there used to be underground passages which linked the town of Thorigny to the Logis de la Boule and de la Barre and to the Bois Belle Femme. Their existence remains a mystery.

Le Bois Nerbert

4. The Bois Nerbert

Old house (private property) which was the property of Charles de Thorigné, lord of Bois-Nerbert. He was behind the reconstruction of the church in 1520. Note the beautiful XNUMXth century door.

5. Old Mill

Just before arriving in the town of Thorigny, the path passes next to the remains of the Moulin Vieux. Beautiful panorama.
