When I found out that an art exhibition around the imagination, beliefs and magic was being held at the CYEL contemporary art space, I couldn't keep still! 🤩✨
Neither one nor two, I set out to discover Phenomena!, accessible free of charge at CYEL. 👀

Artistic oddities and quirks

Arrived at the entrance to the exhibition, I was able to put my belongings in a locker with my coat, ideal for visiting without the hassle and taking the time to observe what is in the cabinet of curiosities. 🔮

In a peaceful atmosphere with discreet lighting, I discovered the first section devoted to myths and folklore. The different human forms interpreted and reinterpreted through stories, superstitions, transformations linked to stories that go through time and are constantly changing. 👹

I really enjoyed the photograph of what was thought to be a statue covered in torn fabrics and swaying in the wind…but I'll leave it up to you to find out the truth for yourself! 🤫

A little further on I entered the section “Outsmarting the regime of the image”, where our understanding of what is perceived comes up against reality. Behind the primary meaning of the images are hidden interpretations that can illuminate our vision in a new light. 🔆

A brightly colored canvas held my attention for several minutes, as if I were caught up in the multitude of shapes, colors and intentions hidden throughout a vibrant and hypnotizing, almost magical painting. 🎨🧙‍♂️

The third section examines our understanding of objects when a veil of effects of all kinds interferes with the clarity of everyday life. What becomes of them clothed in a ghostly aspect? 🤔

I had the impression of seeing scenes that played with time and space, as if it were possible to project my vision into an inaccessible and yet so familiar elsewhere. ⏳🌌

The last section of the exhibition revolved around nature and weather hazards. As often, nature invites wonder and can be particularly magical. At the end of the exhibition, a creation space offers tracing paper and pencils to add your ghost to the assembly of ghosts already present on the walls! 👻

I loved Phenomena! and the extraordinary that emanates from it. Many works come from the art library of La Roche-sur-Yon so don't hesitate to take a look at it in the media library. 😉

The exhibition is accessible until April 29, 2023 at the CYEL contemporary art space, 10 rue Salvador Allende in La Roche-sur-Yon. Tuesday to Saturday, 13 p.m. to 18 p.m. More information on 02 51 47 48 91.
