Points of interest

 Lac de Moulin Papon

1. Trailhead

Departure of the trail from the parking lot of the Moulin Papon dam.

Alluchon

2. Alluchon

Pond created in 1994 which became a watercourse again in 2017 (removal of a hydraulic valve). The old body of water has become a flood expansion field where a dense meadow of reeds, tall perennial herbaceous plants or even irises has developed. The Yon has thus regained its original bed and its natural meanders.

Rivoli

3. Rivoli

Sports complex, canoeing, climbing, bowling alley. the parks of Alluchon and Rivoli are crossed by footpaths and cycle paths which meander along the Yon. Traces of old paved roads and remains of mills are still visible.

Piscine des Pelles

4. Shovels

In 1942, Raymond Prunier, a physical education teacher, signed a 99-year lease with the SNCF to build a swimming pool with the help of companies and volunteers. The swimming pool was nicknamed the Olympic basin because it was 50 meters long. Inaugurated in 1945, the Pelles swimming pool was in operation until the 60s. Many Yonnais children thus learned to swim in the Yon and used the diving board.

Frayère à brochet à Renou

5. Pike spawning ground in Renou

Pike spawning ground: wetland connected to the Yon. The site must guarantee a more or less wide connection with the watercourse. This connection constitutes a call zone at the beginning of migration (swamp effluvia) to come and reproduce (spawning).

Pont Rouge

6. Red Bridge

Many washerwomen still exercised their difficult trade there after the Second World War (until 1950) downstream and upstream.

Allée des Tanneurs

7. Alley of the Tanners

This alley along the Yon takes its name from the Gozola tannery which was established there in 1812. It is on this bank that the skins were prepared before being marketed.

8. Rue d'Ecquebouille

Its name dates from the Middle Ages and means "street of boiling water" because the water was bubbling on the stones of the ford which made it possible to cross the river.

Haras de la Vendée

9. Haras de la Vendee

The Haras de la Vendée, cultural site of the Department of Vendée, shares with you the passion for horses. In a 4,5 ha park dedicated to the equestrian arts, come and meet the horse in all its majesty and diversity.
