Located in Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt, 20 km south of Les Sables d'Olonne and close to the ocean, the Préhisto'site du CAIRN, a living, fun and educational museum, welcomes you to the land of megaliths!

You and your family can explore Neolithic dwellings, participate in archaeological digs, see the inside of a dolmen and learn about plants and recipes from our ancestors… A true return to our roots!

The Vendée, renowned for its coastline, holds many other treasures, often overlooked. Within our region lies a unique heritage dating back to prehistory: menhirs and dolmens. The mission of the Préhisto'site is to reveal these giants of sandstone or granite.

The park is made up of different thematic areas: a prehistoric garden; a menhir movement area; a hunting area with 3D animals; a reconstructed dolmen; a reconstructed Bronze Age house; a fishing area; a nomadic habitat space; “little stone giants”; a polisher and its jewelry manufacturing workshop; an art space and its charcoal drawing workshop.
