The Extraordinary Vegetable Garden cultivates the “curious and the bizarre”. While vegetables and plants seem to be part of ordinary daily life, the Extraordinary Vegetable Garden overturns our certainties: we still have everything to discover in the world around us!

7 hectares of discoveries with more than 1,000 varieties of food plants, more than 4 hours of visit with continuous activities (theatrical tours, visits with the gardeners, creative and gourmet workshops…)

In 2026, the Extraordinary Vegetable Garden will be open from May 14th to November 1st, with 2 seasons:
- Vegetable Garden Academy: Springtime in the Vegetable Garden (New for 2026). From May 14 to June 28, 2026. In spring, the vegetable garden is sown and planted. Discover the seed shop with Capucine, explore soil life with our gardeners, participate in sowing and cutting workshops, or meet our animals with our staff.
- Summer/Autumn Season - from July 1st to November 1st, 2026. Discover all the collections of the Extraordinary Vegetable Garden: tomato and gourd tunnels, vegetable library, bizarretum, exotic vegetable garden… while enjoying the many activities offered! At this time of year, the Extraordinary Vegetable Garden is at its peak!

Throughout the season, the Potager Extraordinaire invites you to La Roche-sur-Yon to enjoy a rich program of events:
- A garden full of eggs! - Easter weekend: April 4, 5 and 6.
- Plant sale: April 24, 25 and 26 and May 2, 3. New: behind-the-scenes tour and market gardening workshop.
- Cot cot codette – The animals of the vegetable garden – children's festival: Sunday, May 24.
- Rendez-vous au jardin: from June 5th to 7th.
- Chromatic Evenings – musical evenings at the Vegetable Garden: July 21, 28 and August 4, 11, 18.
- The Vegetable Garden under the stars – New for 2026: August 7, 8 and 9.
- Painters in the Vegetable Garden – the vegetable garden sows its art: Wednesday, August 12.
- European Heritage Days: September 19 and 20.
- National competition for giant fruits and vegetables - Sunday, September 27.
- Not so scary after all – Halloween at the Extraordinary Vegetable Garden - from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October.
