The Phoenix Flamel: A journey beyond time and the ordinary
It's the 21th February 2018 that the Phoenix Flamel has opened its doors, offering La Roche-sur-Yon a unique place of its kind. Located in the city center, this café transports its visitors into a world full of fantasy and mystery. At the origin of this project is Matthew Ives, a fan of imaginary worlds, who wanted to bring to life a space where reality seems to fade away. The Phoenix Flamel, much more than a simple coffee shop, offers an immersive experience where magic and fantasy blend.

An unreal and magical place
Some places seem to suspend the flow of time. The Phoenix Flamel is the perfect example. As soon as you walk through its doors, a magical atmosphere envelops visitors, transporting them into a fantastic universe. It is a magical place, timeless and out of the ordinary. ", explains Matthew, the passionate manager of this establishment unlike any other. Designed to offer an immersive experience, the Phoenix Flamel invites its customers to relax, work or simply enjoy a drink while immersing themselves in a decor inspired by famous sagas, such as Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings.
The menu is full of surprises. During the day, tea, coffee and pastries will delight you! From 18 p.m., the place is transformed: hot dogs, craft beers, cocktails, and even the famous " Butterbeer", a warm and comforting blend of beer and butter to discover. The Phoenix Flamel not only delights its visitors, it also entertains them. Every Tuesday evening, "English evenings" are organized, offering a friendly and authentic atmosphere. Whether for a gourmet break or a fantastic immersion, the Phoenix Flamel is the perfect place.
Local producers and suppliers
This innovative bar and coffee shop takes an approach environmentally friendly by favoring short circuits and local partnerships. Among his collaborations are the craft breweries “La Muette” and “Zig,” which share the same environmental values. This local philosophy also extends to the Phoenix Flamel menu. Indeed, it offers a selection of homemade pastries. Among them, we find cookies that, according to Matthew, are his real “guilty pleasure.”
Upcoming project
Matthew has several projects in mind for the Phoenix Flamel. In the short term, he first wants to increase his visibility, so that many people can explore the universe he has developed. In the long term, he also plans to create a new coffee shop. However, this one will not be located in Vendée, but in another region of France. Indeed, his goal is to share his passion and culture with a wider audience.
