ALI unveils a monumental fresco in the heart of La Roche-sur-Yon

In rue Clemenceau in La Roche-sur-Yon, urban art has taken on a new dimension thanks to the spectacular intervention ofArthur-Louis Ignoré, Alias ALI. An urban artist based in Brittany, ALI is renowned for his monumental creations, often made on the ground, where nature interacts with architecture.
A plant and geometric work in the heart of the city

For this exceptional fresco of 1 000 m², ordered by La Roche-sur-Yon, Town & Agglomeration in collaboration with Destination La Roche-sur-Yon, ALI transformed rue Clemenceau into a huge graphic garden. Stylized plant motifs are displayed on the ground, delicate interlacing and rigorous geometries, inspired both by the surrounding nature and local architectural ornamentation.
Without a pre-established composition, the artist prefers to let the space guide his hand. He observes, absorbs it, and adapts his creation to the urban environment, letting the structure of the place nourish his fresco. In La Roche-sur-Yon, these are natural forms and architectural details of the city which slowly infused his work.

Painting the city with your own materials
Painted with a brush, ALI's fresco uses road marking paint, usually reserved for signage. This choice of material anchors the work in the urban landscape while highlighting its ephemeral dimension. Over time, the passage of inhabitants and bad weather will slowly make the patterns disappear, as a discreet tribute to the impermanence of art in public space.
ALI also sometimes uses materials like podotactile nails ou reused stones, thus extending its approach: inscribing art in the city, with the city, for the city.

A participatory and immersive project
In addition, a fun and colorful initiative has been tested and widely acclaimed: chalks are available to the public at the Tourist Office to invite young and old to extend ALI's work by adding their own colorful touch, directly onto the fresco. A joyful and ephemeral way of participate in the work, to dialogue with it, and to appropriate it, for the time of a drawing or a passage.
To extend this artistic immersion, ALI offers a pattern hunt in partnership with theOur Tourist Office. Through this urban game, the public is invited to explore the city to find the origin of the motifs integrated into the fresco, from architectural details or elements of the urban landscape. A map, enriched with clues drawn by the artist, allows you to search for them. Thanks to this plan made by ALI, everyone can thus rediscover the heritage of La Roche-sur-Yon with a new and curious perspective.
