Gueffier House

Built in 1807, the Gueffier house, named after its former owner, is the last of the adobe buildings when the new town was created to speed up work and house the first officials.

Located in the heart of La Roche-sur-Yon, Maison Gueffier is a must-see venue dedicated to literature and literary creation. It is the birthplace of the Grand R literature project, a unique program in the network of 78 National Stages in France, which began in La Roche-sur-Yon. From an original, embryonic idea, this structure has grown to become a true benchmark in the literary world, bringing together publishers, authors, and book professionals.

The Maison Gueffier consists of several spaces dedicated to creativity, encounters, and reflection on literature. Upstairs, a writing workshop room allows numerous writers and enthusiasts to work in an inspiring setting. The reception lounge, which overlooks the small Latitudes garden, offers a relaxing space conducive to informal exchanges and reflection.
