The Yon valley is the green lung of the city, it crosses La Roche-sur-Yon, from the Place des Frères Batiot in the center of the city, to rue Georges Mazurelle.

It is the nurturing mother of the vegetable gardens, private or family that are dotted along its shores. Strewn with cattails, irises, rushes, phragmites, mint and other watercress, the banks of the Yon are managed by minimizing the impact of man in order to preserve a biodiversity of important species.
