La Gâterie is a space entirely devoted to contemporary art.

La Gâterie was born in 2010 from a desire to promote and disseminate contemporary art in all its forms. The place is managed by the Transversale association pooling resources, networks and skills. Its members, from the Visual Arts, the music scene, micro-publishing and DIY wanted to bring together their interests to promote the actors of a broader contemporary scene and resolutely turned towards experimentation.

La Gâterie is located near Les Halles in the town of La Roche-sur-Yon. With its original format of windows open to the outside and the public space, La Gâterie is built as an atypical place in the field of visual arts in the Pays de la Loire region. Anchored in the Yonnais territory, it is in constant search of sensitive crossings linking artistic practices and the public.

La Gâterie attaches particular importance to the initiation to the visual arts, in particular through a work of mediation and expanded communication (school, extracurricular). Workshops for children are offered all year round, a fund specializing in graphic arts provides access to on-site consultation of works such as artists' books, fanzines and micro-editions, representative of the diversity of editorial creation. current.

The association develops many partnerships, in particular with Graffiti Urban Radio (radio interviews) and with the Art et Essai cinema Le Concorde for programming films related to current exhibitions.

La Gâterie also organizes annual meetings outside the walls: the In-Ouïe festival around sound arts each year during National Sound Week as well as the Papelard festival dedicated to micro-publishing and printmaking.

La Gâterie has been supported since its inception by the City of La Roche-sur-Yon, as well as by the DRAC Pays de la Loire and the Pays de la Loire Region for several years.
